Raising Funds for a Cause
I am raising funds to support research into curing a form a blood cancer called multiple myeloma and request your support. I have set a personal goal of raising $10,000 and I need your help to reach it. My run in the Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2005 will mark the date when I expect to have reached this fundraising milestone.
This request is very important to me as this disease affects people dear to me. My mother has been battling complications from multiple myeloma since being first diagnosed in 1996 and remains on chemo therapy to this day, and a friend, Rudy Bretschneider, is currently undergoing a stem cell transplant in his effort to contain this incurable disease. Multiple myeloma is a incurable form of blood cancer. It is the second most common blood cancer and the third fastest growing cancer in people ages 65 and under.
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is working hard to accelerate the search for a cure. Since their inception in 1998, the MMRF has become the world’s number one private funder of myeloma research. They have funded over $28 million in cutting edge research grants and have supported over 45 of the world’s top research institutions.
